Rehearsal Shoot!

30, Apr 2012

Yesterday (Sunday) we had our much needed rehearsal shoot at our location in Sunbury a.k.a Emily’s house!
We were fortunate to have one of our actors come and join the rehearsal, Steph, who is our lead character Donna.
The purpose of having this time to meet was basically to become familiar with and prepare ourselves with our [...]

Life is…

29, Apr 2012

I’ve put together my first two videos for our final Korsakow project. These aren’t necessarily going to be definite videos for our film, but after our post-it note brainstorm, the two themes I was assigned with were ‘Happiness’ as part of the ‘Personal Outlooks’ category, and ‘Rhythm’ as part of the ‘Patterns’ category.
Both these videos [...]

As the film shoots for both the groups in our class are nearing ever so quickly, we continued getting to know more parts of the equipment of which we will be using. Becoming familiar with the mini monitor was rather interesting and the thought of using it on set made me feel extra ‘professional’. I’ve [...]

I.M 8th Tute

25, Apr 2012

We continued on with our major Korsakow film project, focusing on the ideation of themes, concepts and thoughts towards our chosen prompt. With our prompt ‘life is…’ and a stack of post-it notes, we began to brainstorm our thoughts on the constituents of life until we ended up with this:

Lenny Video edit II

25, Apr 2012

Since it was myself and my group who had filmed our own footage for this exercise, doing the editing for it as part of the post-production phase definitely gave me a better sense of what it will be like to complete the post-production editing for our actual short drama film.

W7 Lenny

So we stepped it up another notch with this whole Lenny saga, and did a mock film shoot with one of Emily’s friends coming to be our A.D and everything! I think we did a rather apt job considering we had less than an hour. I found this exercise really beneficial for gaining a [...]

TV Studio – LIGHTING

19, Apr 2012

Whether consciously aware of it or not, a lot of the time we are adjusting the lighting – through opening/closing curtains, turning lights on and off etc.
Quality of light
Hard light – predominantly refers to direct sunlight, is directional, provides deep, definitive shadow and isn’t defused.
(also includes key lights, lamps and other artificial light sources).

Soft [...]

After sorting out all the assessment submission for our first Korskow project, it was then time to move on to something bigger and … well wouldn’t go that far as to say ‘better’, but mind-boggling seems fairly fitting.
Soon after it came to the sticky stage of choosing groups. After Seth’s resistance towards my proposal of [...]

W7 Television Lecture

17, Apr 2012

Guest speaker: Alister – Film Directorfor ‘Kokoda’ and ‘Sanctum’
I must say, I found Alister and his lecture thoroughly entertaining and more importantly, informative given the amount of time he had for his presentation.
He began by highlighting the visible truth about this industry – the hardest thing being able to get a job. Because of this, [...]
