It seems that this year, there has been a lot of blog crashing and this has actually slowed down the class.*Boohoo* So today’s lab class progress was pretty slow. I managed to set up my blog on the first week, so I organized my sidebar widgets. Rearranging them systematically so that’s it is easily accessible. I just can’t stand it whenever I visit random blogs or website online and their sidebar is full of stuff. Well, that is just me!

Besides trying to set up my blog completely, Seth said we could have a go at changing the themes. *Yeah!!* But WordPress can be so frustrating. I have to purposely download Cyberduck just to change themes and change stuff on this blog. I shall search and explore more themes once I can figure out a way to upgrade my WordPress version. *Sigh*

Oh, today we also formed groups for the project due end of this semester. Meet my groupmates:

We are The Blue Frenzy! Cute and funky name we have, yea?

Evernote? Delicious? Zotero? Okay, I have to admit I never heard any of these websites before. If I ever needed to bookmark a website, I would just click on the star on my Google Chrome. But now that I’ve come to know of these website, it comes in pretty handy. I just have to access that website, login and all my bookmarks are there! Sometimes I do forget the website links when I’m using a public computer and I just ended up surfing Facebook!

Anyway, I just briefly went through these few websites. I can’t say which is the best to use but I guess it’s really up to each person’s preference.

Evernote – Keeps a record of everything from notes, pictures, receipts, websites, etc. Can be organize by tags or notebooks. Easily search notes through keywords and tags.

Delicious – A social bookmarking service. Bookmark and share websites and can be accessed from any computer.

Zotero – Function quite similarly to Evernote but with extra functions such as citing, syncing and collaborating.

Among the three of these websites, I created a Delicious account during lab because we can choose between Delicious or Diigo. The name Delicious appeals more to me so I chose it over Diigo. I find this Delicious website really interesting because once I tag the bookmark link, I could see other people who bookmarked the same page as I did. But of course, you can always make your bookmarks private so others won’t see it.

Other then setting up a bookmark account, we also sign up for the NM 2011 group list. I just checked the group list. Nothing has been posted so far. I wonder what the first discussion topic will be.

Basically, this week is all about setting up the blog. So this week I’m just trying to familiarize myself with WordPress as I previously used Blogger
