Value and Consumption of Media

Today, in tute, we split into groups of about 5 people to discuss different sides of the Media Industries. I joined a group that was discussing the ‘Value and Consumption trends of the general public in relation to Media’.

We made a mind-map, brainstorming different ideas and notions in relation to Media Value and Consumption. For example, ‘How much authority can be placed on user-generated media? Does it have value?’, ‘Do people mainly consume their media legitimately or illegally?’ and ‘Do media artefacts now need to be an “experience” to hold value?’, among other questions.

I think that this will be the topic that I will investigate more into and, potentially, do for my project topic. I feel like there is a lot to explore within this topic and could make for an interesting discussion.
