Final Participation Criteria

This is a blog post regarding my Participation in Networked Media this semester, using the criteria that I have developed over its duration. I will be assessing myself on this criteria, which was finalized at the end of September.

My main criteria included writing at least four blog entries per week over the course of the semester, which I have done successfully, with a total of 52 posts so far (equating to 4.3 post per week). These posts were supposed to range across all aspects of course exploration, which I also think has been a strong point, with posts on lab/lecture reflections, research, documentation, group collaboration, and posts, which provide real-life examples as to what we have beenĀ  learning in class. Here are a few examples of posts that show my range:

The difference between CSS and HTML

Hypertextualizationingness

Page Layout

The Uneasy Side of the Internet

The rest of the criteria revolved around group collaboration, attendance and engagement with labs/lectures and involvement in class discussion, which I believe I have also been strong in doing. I have to admit there there was a lecture or two that I had missed, and I came to class late one morning, but I believe I have made up for these areas with my hard work in other areas. Another criteria of mine was to practice the skills learned from within the course to other areas outside of the course, which I have actually done. I am currently building my own website and the HTML skills I have developed within the course have definitely helped me.

I also believe that I am trying to go beyond what is required in the assessment tasks, particularly with the Hypertext essay, as we are using HTML coding such as frames, hot-spots and JavaScript, which are things I have had to learn outside of the course, but have been extremely useful in creating what I had in my vision. This would have to be the main activity that most influenced me throughout the semester, as I had already been competent with my HTML skills, so taking them to another level had been great for me.

What have I done well?

So overall, I think my blog would be the part of this course that I had really been motivated to do, but also to go beyond what was required and further develop my basic skills.
What could I have doneĀ  better?

I think my essay writing could improve a little better and I would have liked to become more in-depth and analytical with my writing style and content within my blog posts, but I definitely think I have made up for this in my participation in other areas.
