I own my Copyright!

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Copyright is always a problem to me as most of the projects need to use out source materials like music, clip, and images. Once you know how to reference the work clearly and things that have copyright, it should not be a problem.
But, even thought I learned how to reference clearly and accurately, I still find a hard to cite works from others. Therefore, I came up with the most time consuming way to avoid referencing and searching for things that can be used without other people’s copyright. That is – create on my own, shortly D.I.Y. Well, this is most regard to the image other than music and clips.
Since this, I made up my mind to learn Photoshop, explore all the filters and effects, try to draw things myself, make my mind creative. I’ve been always want to learn Photoshop, but always being lazy to do so, owning the copyright is sort of a force to push me started my plan. It is time consuming though. I’ve spent almost 7 hours to finish imitating a background! The main reason is I am so new to Photoshop, I can’t do things in a quick and efficient way as I have to search for a certain button and change layers and background. But anyways, I enjoy doing so because it’s a way to train myself, it’s also necessary to manage a designing tool in order to improve my skill. In the media industry, it’s always better to be prepared and know everything. This is the background I spent 7 hours…it worthies…I think. Background

Hard to follow!

what is this

This is my imitation of a photoshop example.
It’s hard to follow the instruction when it didn’t explain the detail procedure. And because I am a beginner of Photoshop, it’s even harder.
But anyways, I tried every step as it says and here’s the outcome.
Actually, I didn’t care how my one looks different from the sample one, once i know which filter to use, how to manage layers, which blending option should be changed, i can create my own one…maybe not so ideal or close to the look I want, it is still of my artistic creation.
Throughout the process, I realise dat you don’t have to have a image or figure to be the point of the picture. Just a mix of the colors, effects, play around the layers and the filter, anyone can create some fancy backgrounds and effects…
In regarding to Photoshoping images, I realize that, the first thing is to fully understand the property of the layer and background. When we are making changes to the images, it always have to on the layer but not the background. Within the layer, we can make heaps of changes: changing the blending options of the layer, using tools to make shapes and coloring and using filter to create higher level changes. To me, manipulating the layer is very hard for me becoz I still got confused by how the arranging of the layer and background affects each other and the changes it brings.
Anyways, I have a conclusion after all, which is practice makes perfect. Since I keep making and trying new examples following the instructions provide by the internet tutorial websites, I discovered more techniques and gradually try to troubleshoots myself.
Therefore, and other conclusion, if you want to understand anything, keep using it!
Wahaha, not that bad is it?!
