Timeless Picture Draft

Timeless draft fight from Lushi Wu on Vimeo.

This is a test shot for the fighting stop motion animation. It was hard to follow all the prepared action routines, the continues shot seems too continued while the single shot will miss some of the action. Also, we need to think about whether we need to slow down our motion or keep it in the same speed.

For the first one week, I’m full of questions and ambitions. Three videos and chances to work with poets and artists. For the semesters before we only manage to do one project or two per semester, and Prod actually asks for three.

I guess it will be busy and creativity overload. Since this is for participation in the studio, I’m gonna set some criteria to assess my participation level. Also, what I’m expecting myself to do /achieve during the studio.

  • be in the class of course, or at least know what each class talked about
  • spend enough time in the productions, no more slight over and get myself involved all time
  • reflect on my own work and give feedbacks to other’s work
  • assignments done on time
  • interact with the class, I mean receiving feedbacks and taking advices
  • learn from the class not just listen to the class

Those are the rules towards the studio specifically, here are some for my own group

  • collaboration, remember you are in the team, you are not an indie
  • keep your promises, attend meetings, shootings and editing
  • always have a wider view and don’t be a stubborn
  • allows new ideas and changes
  • be responsible and finish all the tasks required
  • think in a group not individual

I think I can participate very well now, since I’m doing what I want even though I’m really not a fan of poetry.

almost X’mas eve

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Actually Christmas should not be any special to me since I’m not Christian or westerner. I donno why people in here are so excited about the day, they dont believe in God then why they celebrate?

I hate being ordered to do things that I dont want to. Well, nobody likes this i guess.

Internship seem to be a big problem to me in holiday, or I should say in China, exactly. I dont know why it’s so hard to find a place dat you can learn something practical, something useful. In melbourne it’s such easy thing. This really makes me miss RMITV.

Going to Concerts is always in my to do list. There is one in 24th, I decided to go this time.

Project process and draft

This is the draft of my final project.
First, I picked up the key words in the abstract given, which are interlinked, short posts, communal discourse and links= contexts and fragments.

Then I found out quotes that are about the key word and annotated/citing them with my own words.

My intention is to make the links and posts embedded in the way people linked to and read it as if reading a blog.

But making effect with HTML is a bit hard because you have to be really familiar with tables and codings. Therefore, I made the pages simple and used everything I know to achieve my ideal outcome. The linkings are the most time-consuming part, but once you have a clear map of the whole project, the links should not be a problem. Also, I used the links idea I saw before, but in a way that I can only think of, which is copying pages and arranged different links within the table. I think this really works on the concept of linkings within blog and posts.

Overall, I think the project is simple, but also rich in links and ideas, hopefully it really expressed the way I want to and showing the real theme of a hypertext essay.

Can’t get rid of Photoshop

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

The original idea of using Photoshop is to avoid the Copyright problem, then I find myself so in to it, as well as designing.
Gradually I get used to Photoshop, I knew how to use the fancy brushes to create a great background, as well as some other tools like custom shape, transform, layer properties….
I even download some extra brushes and tried them to crate a background. Feel so good! Now I can do most of the images I want in order to use within projects and building webpages.
In the past, I always envy the designers that why they can think of such good ideas and create such good images, now I found my way, which encourage me to create more and more.

Brush is just amazing! I like the way how the color change from range, light to dark. I just love it!

Improving by Practicising

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

After the portfolio, I am just getting better and better in HTML… It’s actually really hard to build pages by writing HTML codes in Text software.
In order to make my ideas come true and help other friends with their projects, I tried using table again and again, making sure all the codes are in pair, figuring out how work out some effect by using what I knew. Looking at Source Code from other people’s webpages are also a good way to study HTML codes because you can see what the codes actually look like and learn how they arranged.

Trouble shooting is also a good way to firm your knowledge and make it fix in your mind. I enjoy helping out my friends with their problems, some kind of satisfaction arise and really make you understand what you learn and how to apply the knowledge in practical.

Charlie Brookers

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Who is Charlie Brookers?

Charlton Brooker, commonly known as Charlie Brooker, (born 3 March 1971 Reading, Berkshire)[1] is a British comedy writer, cartoonist, journalist and television presenter. His style of humour is savage and profane, with surreal elements and a consistent satirical pessimism. He is particularly known for his highly acclaimed TV show Screenwipe and his review columns for The Guardian newspaper, and is one of four creative directors of comedy production company Zeppotron. (Wiki)

I knew him from the last Broadcast Media lecture. He lives in reality, he sees through the media, it’s hard to criticize something if you don’t research or consume enough material in that area. My thinks, his opinions are great. Just take a look at this. I would like to have him as the MM lecturer, not by offensive.
