Week 10 Film & TV seminar

There are changes regarding to arrangements, hosting and seminar contents made regarding to the last one. The arrangement of the seminar sections is more appropriate this time. Also the guests are more united to documentary directors rather than different areas. I would say the questions form the seminar group are quite in depth, but some of them are too specific to a certain problem which narrows to only one or two guests can answer. Once again, the host is a weak point in both seminars. There were barely interactions between the host and the guests. This can be seen from the reaction of the host whenever the guests are answering questions. If the host were interacting with the guests, he/she would give some feedback to the answers rather than introduce to the next question immediately. Likewise, it would be better for the host to lead the talking because I realized that sometime the guests just start to discuss themselves and no one to control the flow of the seminar. The other problem of the seminar is time controlling issue. The question time is too long comparing to the talking. It would be more suitable if the question time is controlled to 10 to 15 minutes and leave more time for the guests to share their opinions. Likewise, the used of facility were not good enough, there were small issues with the echoes of the mic and sound levels while playing the videos. Though, there are good aspects of the seminar. Most of the guests are motivated to talk; they really gave out good tips for us. They are also willing to share their experience, teaching us how to tackle difficulties as well as how they solved the problems. Overall, it was a big improvement from the last seminar and the progression is obvious.
