The HyperText Experience

Lexia

In the context of hypertext, 'lexia' is used to refer an individual kernel of textual information. The dynamic nature of the hypertext means that such kernels are not restricted to written text - video's, music and interactive features all lend themselves to the lexia label. What makes hypertext unique is that these blocks of text are joined to others through hyperlinks. One lexia can be interrelated and interconnected with a plethora of others and, as such, the borders of a given lexia have a permeable, ambiguous quality.
