Video B Sketch – Feedbacks
Posted in PP2 on 09/24/2010 10:24 pm by adminAs our video B sketch, after showing the class…
What they like:
The split screens, and also using two screens to show the character’s point of view.
I think we could take more point of view shots, so that the split screen could be more interesting.
What is confusing:
The message of Social network wasn’t really clear enough to the audience. We have problem showing how the character actually are “friends” in facebook, but not in real life. We will have to think of a way to sent the message even clear.
Still thinking what kind of sound tracks suit the video.
Colour Keying

After effects colour keying..
Individual Reflection
Posted in PP2, PROD, Prod Participation on 09/15/2010 12:39 am by adminIn this studio, i think it enable me to apply all of my skills that i’ve learn throughout these 3 years, and i also learn alot of things that i did not get to learn in the past few years. Such as : Stopmotion and timelapse. Before the 2nd semester, i knew what’s stopmotion is, but i do not know how to create one. Then through pp2, it gave me a chance to create my first stop-motion video. At first, for the draft it was quite satisfying, But unfortunately, the outcome of the video wasn’t really satisfying, because other than stopmotion, we thought of adding some basic animation, which is challenging, because neither of us has a creative mind and the skills of animating. Creating a better background for our video is part of our challenge,as an editor for the video, i did go through some After effects tutorial, and hope that i could get something out of that, but time was another problem, i do not have enough time to learn and explore therefore i ended up working on final cut pro, which a software that i’m most familiar on.
Another challenge that i reckon all my group mates are going through is brainstorming ideas. As the poem that we’ve chosen is quite abstract, the poet left alot of space for the audience to think and imagine, it is not direct enough and it doesn’t really has a story in it. Therefore it is quite hard for us to translate the poem. The characters in the poem has a complicated relationship, it involves third party in their relationship, which leads us to our idea for our 1st video, a complicated relationship, meanwhile we want to make the video look “fun”.
in conclusion, the most interesting workshop would be the stopmotion workshop and the timelapse workshop, because i reckon these two workshops will be very useful for us to create a creative and interesting video or online video. In pp2, i think it allows us to practice all of the skills we’ve got, because this studio has alot of hands on things to do. All of us in the group could be an actor, editor, DOP, and a director at the same time.
Timelapse
Posted in PP2, PROD, Prod Participation on 09/14/2010 05:29 pm by adminwe tot of using timelapse as part of our technique in our 2nd video, and this is one of our timelapse video that we’ve created. It was shot in St.kilda, we waited for sunset for 45minutes on st.kilda beach..It was quite an experience…although it’s a hard time waiting (due to the weather), but the outcome is satisfying!!

Week 7 – Alternative Pathways
Posted in Media Industries 2 on 09/13/2010 07:43 am by adminWeek: 7
Seminar title: Alternative Pathways
1. Appropriate questions (research, moderation, hosting)
I think for this section I’ll give the Alternative Pathways a D. The host was quite good at entertaining and interviewing the guest. From the handouts and while the host was introducing the guest, I felt that they did quite good at doing their research in order to provide the guest’s information and backgrounds clearly. Other than that, the host also did quite a good job to by asking questions that us the audience might want to know.
2. Guest relevance to the topic
For this section I think they worth a High.D. As this seminar was about Alternative Pathways, therefore the guest are all from veriety background, from Sports, Public Relation, Advertising and designers, which totally qualified to be guest speaker for this seminar. Although some of the guest does not have lots of experience in this industry, but they’ve got a lot to say, things they said are all useful for us for future use.
3. Quality of seminar facilitation (including set-up, staging, refreshments, audience interaction, flow, technical eg sound, IT)
For this section I will be giving them a High.D. They did a very good job on setting up the stage and also the sound and visual. The host and the guest were able to interact well with the audience. Their snacks that they’ve provided are different from the other groups, it seems like they did spend quite some time in bring up something “fresh”, instead of using a plastic cup for candies, they provide cute little container for the cookies for each of the audience, that’s a thumbs up!
4. Seminar Content
As for the seminar content, I will be giving a High.D. The seminar content suits the title of the seminar. I really like when they were sharing what problems they had experience and how they solve it, and also things about their own company, how their company treated them. It was interesting listening to what people from different areas faces while working, some might be different from us the production team.
Another Cool Split Screen
Posted in PP2, PROD on 09/12/2010 12:57 pm by adminin this music video, i like the way they do the split screen, using the white borders, they do not just use one particular size of the screen, they’ve uses all kind of size and shape, i think it should be interesting to have this kind of style in our video.
