Sociologically, with sustained connections and continued conversations, participants in communities, regardless of degrees of inclusion, develop emotional bonds, intellectual pathways, enhanced linguistic abilities, and even a higher capacity for critical thinking and problem-solving.

There are examples of all this happening in this community. Mona and Shachi weren't as close when they had come, I have enhanced my vocabulary of 'Gujarati' , some others are enhancing their English, we are all growing towards higher critical thinking, when we try to solve external problems. It's a learning and growing experience. " I don't feel any difference between my house here and in India", Mona says.

As we have seen, the different members have their own roles and contributions. They all have a common goal, of continuing to live here. That encourages altruism, sharing and brainstorming solutions for problems. The problems faced by one is a potential problem for another, so everyone tries to solve it - emotionally, monetarily, supporting and adjsuting in whatever way possible.

If the sense of community exists, both freedom and security exist as well. The Community then takes on a life of its own, as people become free enough to share and secure enough to get along. This is the "spirit of community."

The community of the people of 16/181 has evolved over a year. There was a time in between when our lease was going to expire, so we had to look for other places. Most wanted a bigger space, but thankfully the lease got extended. This place is too convenient. "By next year though, we hope to have a house, not a unit." It will be interesting to see what happens to the community in future.
