I have responded to the highlighted portion of the following extract, by George P Landow, which outlines the decentrality of hypertext. Landow's argument goes so far as to suggest that centrality exists "only as a matter of evanescence." (Landow 1997, p89). A history of hypertext is a starting point for understanding why this may be the case.
