Critique of design for the other 90%

My sentiments, i couldn’t stay for the whole presentation at ACMI last month in Melbourne, there seemed from what i saw one worthwhile solution – the pot in pot evaporative cooler – designed and made locally (i was told).
The one laptop per child really makes me wonder what we are thinking as human beings – technology is not going to save us. In fact nothing will. But that’s no excuse for not being attentive to the context of problems and also the long term implications of it’s use (or if in fact it is even useful)
